About the Photographers

Catherine – a native of Springfield, MO – received her training at the Art Center in Pasadena, CA. Catherine spent 10 years in LA shooting model portfolios and theatrical headshots, before moving to Nashville, TN with a desire to use her photography experience in the music business.

That is where she met Steve…

Steve – a native of a little town in Illinois – spent 2 years at William Jewell College before transferring to Belmont University in Nashville, TN where he graduated with a BBA and a concentration in Music Business. Upon graduation Steve began pursuing his 2 loves – the music business and photography. He spent several years touring on the weekends and doing photography during the week. When Steve started working with groups that would be out touring for 3 – 4 months at a time, he still would do photography between tours.

That’s when he met Catherine…

Not wanting to be spending all of his time away from home anymore, Steve quit touring and started focusing (forgive the pun) on photography. He continued working for/with 6 other photographers (as they needed help) while building his own client base. These 6 photographers all had different areas of concentration that gave Steve a very wide area of photography experience. Such as:

1. weddings

2. graduations (i.e. Vanderbilt University, MTSU, UT Martin, School of the South,…)

3. CD covers

4. family, children, and baby portraiture

5. convention photography

6. product photography

7. seniors

8. large groups (high school reunions, sororities, even the 101st Airborne Division upon returning from Iraq)

9. daycares

10. awards shows

11. editorial

12. live concerts and stills on video shoots

13. headshots

14. press photography

One of the photographers Steve worked with was the preferred photographer for Opryland Hotel. Whenever this photographer was double booked with weddings or conventions he would call Steve. This is where Steve photographed such events as the 101st Airborne Division upon their return from Iraq, Tennessee Titan lineman Brad Hopkins wedding, and many other conventions, groups and weddings.

While in Nashville, Catherine continued shooting portraits and model portfolios while developing a new area of interest. She started combining her photography and art together by doing incredibly detailed hand tints with a variety of mediums. Most hand tints that you see done by photographers are done 1 of 2 ways; either the black and white photography has a simple wash of color (say in a child’s dress), or the hand tinting is computer generated. The very distinct method that Catherine has developed gives the finished photograph incredible depth and texture that can only be achieved through hours of detailed hand work.

In 2005, after their 8th wedding anniversary, and the birth of their 2nd child, Catherine and Steve had a great desire for their children to be able to grow up around relatives. Since Steve’s family is spread out from northern Illinois to southern Alabama, and Catherine’s entire family still lives in Springfield, MO, the choice was fairly simple – Springfield it is.

Even though they live and work in the Springfield, MO area now, Steve continues traveling because of photography - continuing to shoot weddings and college graduations in the Nashville area, shooting commercial real estate in southern Missouri and northern Arkansas, and spending a week recently in Nashville shooting stills on a children’s video shoot for Thomas Nelson Publishers.

No matter what your photography needs may be - Steve and/or Catherine have the expertise to help you.
